Cap and (Be)Trade

VOTE!

Thumbs up

It is bad enough that the House of Representatives pushed through the largest tax increase in the history of the nation Friday night, but did it really have to be eight Republicans who made it possible? The Cap and Trade bill, HR 2454, was passed by a margin of seven votes: 219-212. SEVEN votes! And there were EIGHT Republican turncoats. If this bill makes it through the Senate and lands on Obama’s desk, he will sign it. And when our electric bills come in higher, our gasoline costs a minimum of $4 - $5 per gallon and the cost of groceries, clothes and anything else we buy goes up, let’s remember to thank those eight traitorous Repubicans (Not a typo, thanks to Mark Levin for this term.)

How much will this cost us overall? According to an MIT study, the total cost to businesses to purchase carbon credits from the government will be about $366 million annually. These costs will be passed on to “we the people” in the form of higher prices, and with roughly 117 million households in the U.S., that would amount to an average of $3,100 per home per year, or about $260 per month.

So, who are these rouge Repubicans? Here is a list below of each, with their phone numbers. Let’s make sure they hear from us. And if the bill gets by the Senate, when our electric bills com in with the markup, if they are still in office, let’s flood them with photocopies of our old bills and the new ones – circle the amounts and SHOW them how much their actions are costing the people they are supposed to serve. Make sure to include a Thank You card as well!  And when I say that prices will increase, don’t take my word for it; our President himself has admitted this.

Here are the eight:

Bono Mack (CA) 202-225-5330
Castle (DE) 202-225-4165
Kirk (IL) 202-225-4835
Lance (NJ) 202-225-5361
Lobiondo (NJ) 202-225-6572
McHugh (NY) 202-225-4611
Reichart (WA) 202-225-7761
Chris Smith (NJ) 202-225-3765

These eight Repubicans, along with 204 Democrats were so determined to pass this bill, which even some proponents admit will have LITTLE TO NO IMPACT on global temperatures, that they not only ignored the people, but basically told us to go play in traffic. The call volume over this bill was heavy enough to crash the House switchboard – and it was disproportionately against the bill. Nonetheless, our “representatives” ignored us, and forced this abomination on us.

In addition to the increased cost of energy and anything made with energy or sold in a store that uses energy, let’s also be ready for an uptick in unemployment! Despite his lies, President Obama’s bill is not a jobs creation bill, and it will kill far more jobs than it creates. Amazing that as we face an economic downturn unrivaled in a quarter of a century, our congressional representatives think it is a good idea to increase consumer costs across the board while trimming back jobs. According to the Heritage foundation, we could lose as many as 2.5 million jobs per year as a result of this policy, which does not even work! Around the world, this has been tried, and has failed. According to a report issued by the Heartland Institute, 12 of the 15 EU nations who signed onto the onerous Kyoto treaty have failed to meet their carbon reduction targets. Three of the nations saw an increase in carbon emissions of 10%, and another three by a whopping 20%!

So our own government is forcing higher costs for everything upon us while reducing the number of jobs, and all for a policy that has been a demonstrable failure where implemented around the world. It truly is a head-scratcher. At least we know that those Democrats who voted for it are generally Statists, and are more concerned with increasing government power over our lives to give us their idea of utopia whether we like it or not. But why are even Eight Republicans going along with this out and out power grab? Keep in mind that every activity we engage in results in carbon emissions. It is literally impossible to take a breath without emitting carbon, so the more the regulate it, the more power they can take over time.

We cannot sit by and watch this happen. The consequences are too serious and they threaten our entire way of life. The bill now heads to the Senate, so we have some time to fight. Let’s make sure to keep calling and crash the Senate switchboard as many times as possible! Let’s make sure that those in the Senate hear our voices loud and clear. Unlike the House, we do not need a majority of Senators to block this legislation – only 40. So let’s make sure none of our Republicans in the Senate even THINK about voting with the Democrats on this one. And woe to any who cross that line.

I agree. We have to be heard. We have to stop the madness. Carol Browner admitted on Fox & Friends that she didn't even read the entire bill, but is promoting it's "positive effects" on an increase in jobs at a cost of $0.50/day to each American. All the while stating that this is NOT a tax. Thanks again for posting the names of these Republicans. The fact is that all politicians are in it for their own gain. http://www.foxnews.com/video2/video08.html?maven_referralObject=6387179&maven_referralPlaylistId=&sRevUrl=http://www.foxnews.com/

Bjaffe, great post! I'm mad as hell, but I have to vent somewhere! These 8 RINO's need to be tossed out, if it were up to me I'd try anyone whom voted Yes as a traitor! This great Nation of ours is slowly being forced down a path of destruction, I for one cannot let that happen. I know nobody here voted for him or others, but for any liberals out there I'll act like you for a second and just say: "Thanks for voting in the anti-American BHO and his minions, and please go to hell at your earliest convenience"! I guess they're doing this to raise my blood pressure, then BAM! socialized Gov. health care...God help us, and God bless you too!

these lousy traitors need to be kicked out of the republican party, they are no better than arlin bennidict spector. if the people of their states vote these pieces of crap back into any office, including dog catcher, they are as bad as the fools in california who sent waxman and pelosi back. these people know there is no such thing as global warming, but the e p a scientists reports were supressed by barack hussein,to further his socialist agenda. i do not believe in violence, but i believe if i ever ran into one of these traitors on the streets, they should hope they have better healthcare than kennedy is proposing for the rest of us.

Call and write your senators often. My rep Jim Marshall voted against this and I sent an e mail to tell him thank you. Now we must all work on our senators. Personally, this bill would put me in the poor house for real. I am sure I am not the only one. We have got to do something to get our country back. The people in DC only seem to care about re-election. They do not care about the working people in this country. Why should they? Taxpayers are paying all their expenses. Think about this. We are their bosses. We pay their salaries, health insurance premiums, house payments, and energy bills. That is OUR money they live off of.

I'm thrilled that it passed. I think you guys should get rid of those RINO's and shrink your party even further. I think you should have a huge litmus test and kick out anyone that doesn't answer 100%. I mean pare down the party until it's nothing but hardcore purists. It should be full of guys like Mark Sanford who embody the solid family values of your party. Oh, wait, that won't work. Oooh, oooh, how about Newt Gingrich. You guys have some work to do with those paring shears, so get crackin'.
